Gen Fu by day is a normal Chinese book store owner and master of Xingyi Liuhe Quan. However once his granddaughter Mei Lin becomes ill he decides to no longer runs the store and instead does everything within his power to help cure her via the DOA Tournaments.

Gen Fu to date has stared in 4 Dead or Alive titles, these being;

The reason for Gen Fu entering the DOA Tournament was for that he needed to win the prize money to help pay for his granddaughter's treatment as they did not have the money for it.

With Gen Fu's granddaughter still being unwell he is informed that if he were to acquire Tengu's nose he would be able to use that as a medicinal cure for his granddaughter condition. Gen Fu's then from this enters the DOA Tournament and succeeds in defeating him in the final. He then take the nose to his granddaughter in hope that it will work.

Due to his succsess in DOA Tournament 2, his granddaughter Mei Lin is now recovering however she still needs to have surgery done to her and this cost a lot of money. Due to this Gen Fu decides to enter this tournament (like the first) to win the money to aid her.

Since his granddaughter has now fully recovered there is no need for Gen Fu to have the need to enter the DOA Tournaments anymore however, he still does make a final appearance in this title as the final boss in Eliot's story mode as Eliot is the new character to replace Gen Fu.

Gen Fu was one of the male characters in the DOA: Dead or Alive Movie and was portrayed by Fang Liu. Gen Fu's role within the movie was very small however he does get the chance to fight Lei Fang. In the deleted scenes in the movie it is shown that Gen Fu is killed by Kasumi.
